Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa narrowly escaped serious injury after being involved in a horrific multi-car accident that saw his posh Toyota SUV completely destroyed on Monday morning.
The crash occurred on Likoni Road in Nairobi, near Winners Chapel church, after his driver lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle collided with several other cars before coming to a halt against a concrete barrier, leaving the flamboyant businessman with injuries and a written-off car.

This came just hours after a joyful Kalekwa had seen his team retain its top-flight status by beating National Super League side Naivas FC 2-0 on aggregate in the FKF Premier League/National Super League playoff. Batoto ba Mungu, under the guidance of Ezekiel Akwana, registered identical 1-0 wins over Naivas in both legs to secure their place in the top league.
The shaken club honcho was grateful to God for sparing his life and that of his driver, terming the incident as the work of the devil coming after he had celebrated two milestones within a few days.
"God has been merciful. Last week I attended my daughter's graduation in Britain, and on Sunday I watched Sofapaka secure their place in the top league. Then, a few hours later, this disaster struck. It felt like an attack from the devil, but I'm grateful to have survived," he told People.
He added that the impact of the accident was so severe it resulted in his Toyota SUV being written off.
"The impact was severe. All the airbags deployed, and the vehicle is a total loss. I've received numerous calls from concerned friends and well-wishers, but I want to reassure everyone that I am safe, though I'm dealing with some significant abdominal pain."
Both Kalekwa and his driver have been discharged from a hospital in Nairobi where they had been rushed following the accident.
