About 35 Liverpool Football Club coaches will be arriving in Kenya for a three-day camp that aims to equip local coaches with the skills they need to nurture Kenyan talent.
The English Premier League club coaches will lead a training session alongside some coaches of a Nairobi-based girls' football team.
The main goal of the training session is to impart skills to empower girls within their communities to enable them succeed through sport.

The programme has been initiated by the Standard Chartered Bank, Liverpool's headline sponsor. The lender also works with Liverpool FC Soccer Schools and the Liverpool Football Club Foundation to create the coaching programme.

“This partnership allows us to meet our objectives to support sustainable economic and social development while inspiring more girls to thrive in the long term,” she added.
During the training, Liverpool FC coaches will teach a holistic ‘Play On’ curriculum with workshops covering the person-centred approach, and barriers to participation.
Other issues the training will cover include; mental health and well-being, balancing life’ and ‘empowering Women in Leadership.
Following a series of daily tasks, the local coaches will be asked to put into practice what they’ve learned during the three-day programme and create their session plans incorporating the Play On curriculum, which they’ll then take back and deliver to girls in their local communities.
Enouce Ndeche, the Chief Executive Officer of a local Nongovernmental organisation lauded the move and termed it an opportunity for social and economic change.
Meanwhile, Steven Gillespie, Senior Programme Manager of International Academies at Liverpool FC stated the programme is aimed at providing practical coaching guidance and giving a unique insight to the participants.
