Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada has revealed the biggest lesson learned from working under Luciano Speletti during his four-month trial at Inter Milan in 2018.

Odada was under the tutelage of Spalletti, the current Italy National Team coach and a Scudetto-winning manager with Napoli last season, and was also able to train with some of the best players of this generation, including Mauro Icardi and Marcelo Brozovic.

Speaking to Pesatips, Odada who also trialed at Juventus and Parma, revealed how he was left astonished by the standards of professionalism he saw while at the club.

I was very excited because they were at another level and me, who was just a guy from the ghetto to get such an opportunity of course gives you positive thoughts,” Odada said.

“It makes you want to push yourself at the end of the day because you will find yourself at the same level.”

Odada revealed how his experience at Inter was like going for a regular nine-to-five job given they treat football as a literal profession, compared to Kenya who are semi-professional at best.

“I learnt a lot from working under Spalleti, especially the fact that professionalism is the most important thing because there, people are working.

When you come in in the morning, you leave at five o’clock in the evening.

In Kenya, we are used to doing other activities then at 5 PM, you go to the pitch for just one hour but over there, it is like a day job.

It was a good experience that opened my mind, and I think given where I am now, I try to step up because I know how things will be moving forward.”

Odada has revealed his career targets moving forward after being on stellar form for Danish side AaB Fodbold since joining on loan from MLS side Philadelphia Union.

Right now, my club career is the most important thing because you have to perform at club level so that you can perform for the national team. I have goals that I want to achieve.
