The former Zesco United player has been without a club since the start of the year after leaving Sagan Tosu.
His stay in Japan was challenging, as he was restricted to only three cup games and failed to break into the starting squad. He left the club without featuring in any league matches.
The player has already been unveiled by the club and is expected to commence training with his new team, which is preparing for life in the top tier after earning promotion as the top team from the Azadegan League.
The combative midfielder started his career with Gor Mahia before moving to Al Khartoum of Sudan in 2014. After a year at the club, he joined Zambia’s Zesco United, where he played for four years before joining Kaizer Chiefs in 2020.
Despite being without a club, Akumu featured in the Four Nations Invitational Tournament for Harambee Stars in Malawi and was part of Engin Firat’s squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers.
He produced a man-of-the-match performance against Ivory Coast, earning praise from local football loyalists.
He is a full Kenyan international and was part of the Kenya team that won the 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
