Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe Masika is close to completing a move to Turkish second-tier side Ankaraspor Kulübü.

The player, who is a free agent after parting ways with FK Sabail in Azerbaijan, has been actively searching for a new club and has settled on Ankaraspor due to the significant offer from the club, according to Kenyan publication Pepeta.

The publication further reveals that the well-traveled forward will be offered a two-year contract with an option to extend for another year.

Negotiations escalated last week after his representatives intensified talks, and barring any unforeseen issues, the deal should be confirmed before the end of the week, with medical sessions already booked for the player.

However, when contacted for a comment, Timbe's brother Omar Masika, a renowned football scout and agent believed to be part of his entourage, remained coy about the deal.

"I can't comment on anything at the moment," he told Mozzart Sport.

Timbe, who has been inconsistent for Harambee Stars due to injuries, will be banking on the move to secure a regular spot in Engin Firat's squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Timbe began his football career at Ligi Ndogo before moving to JMJ Academy, which facilitated his move to Belgium to sharpen his skills at Anderlecht.

He later played for Genk and Lierse in Belgium before his career took him to China’s Beijing Renhe and Heilongjiang Ice City FC.

He is one of the few Kenyan players to have played in the United Kingdom, representing English Championship side Reading FC on a loan deal.

He also had stints with Vissel Kobe in Japan and Buriram United in Thailand.

Timbe made his Harambee Stars debut in 2012 against South Africa and scored his first international goal in Kenya’s 2-1 win over Mauritius in 2015 during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
