The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has thrown the upcoming playoffs of the country’s top domestic league into disarray by suspending 52 players for registration irregularities.

Among the suspended is Wilfried Nathan Douala, a member of Cameroon’s recent Africa Cup of Nations squad.

According to FECAFOOT, these players are suspected of having “dual identities,” meaning they may have lied about their ages on their registrations.

The suspensions come as a major blow to several clubs, with Yong Sports Academy alone having 13 players flagged.

FECAFOOT published the official playoff squad lists on Sunday, highlighting the names of the 52 players in red to indicate the “dual identity” issue.

The playoffs are scheduled to begin this Friday, and it remains unclear how the suspensions will impact the participating teams.

Douala, who plays for Victoria United FC, is reportedly 17 years old according to his registration, raising questions about his eligibility.
